These Jamaican inspired drink recipes are not quite traditional, but certainly use traditional ingredients! Its always fun to make a twist on classics and get creative with ingredients typically used on the island.

Below you’ll find a few out of many Jamaican inspired beverages I’ve curated for a new and refreshing take on ingredients that have been used for centuries.
Sorrel Soda
This sorrel soda is extremely easy to make with two of the main ingredients being a simple syrup and sparkling water!


Sorrel soda recipe
Ingredients
- 1.5 Cups Dried Jamaican Sorrel can also uses dried hibiscus flower
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Agave Syrup
- 1 Cup Water
- 1.5 Cups Sparkling Water
- Thumb Ginger
Instructions
- Combine the flower with sugar, water, and agave in a small sauce pan.
- Stir and allow to reach to a boil, then turn the heat to medium low and allow to simmer for the next 5-7 minutes.
- Once it has simmered and slightly thickened allow to cool.
- Once the syrup is cool, strain it.In a glass, fill your cup with about 2-3 tbs of the syrup and the sparkling water. Serve with Ice and enjoy!
Cinnamon Leaf Iced Tea
This iced tea is absolutely incredible and tastes so delicious. It’s loaded with plenty of herbs that help to heal the womb like red raspberry leaf and blue vervain.


Cinnamon Leaf Iced Tea (womb healing)
Ingredients
- 5-7 leaves Jamaican Cinnamon Leaf crushed, adds a "warm" flavor
- 2 Teaspoons Red Raspberry Leaf
- 1 Teaspoon Marshmallow Root Tea
- 1 Teaspoon Vervain
- 1 Teaspoon Fennel Seeds
- 750 mL Water around 3 cups
- 6-7 Apples or 500 ml apple juice
- 2 Lemons
Instructions
- Put all of your dried herbs into a small sauce pan with the water on medium heat and allow to reach to a boil.
- Once the tea has reached a boil, turn off the heat and allow to simmer for the next 15-30 minutes.
- While the tea is seeping, either make your apple/lemon juice or find a brand that offers cold pressed apple juice.
- Once the tea has cooled completely, combine with the fresh juice. Feel free to add more or less apple juice a you desire.Serve over ice and enjoy!
Notes
- The tea will be strong! If you’re new to herbs, feel free to half the measurements, this is your healing journey after all (:
- You can seep/cook the herbs twice (make two batches) for optimal ingredient usage!
Homemade Ting
If you’re from Jamaica, then you know about Ting, a flavourful grapefruit soda. This homemade Ting recipe is extremely easy to make, fully refined sugar free, and so easy to make.


Healthy Grapefruit Soda (Homemade Jamaican Ting Recipe)
Ingredients
- 1.5 Fresh Grapefruit
- Sparkling Water
- 2-4 Tablespoons Agave Nectar add to your taste preference,I used about 2.5 tbs
Instructions
- Squeeze the juice out of one and a half grapefruits, Feel free to leave the pulp in or strain if you wish.Now, add in agave to taste to the juice.
- Grab any sized glass and pour the sweetened grapefruit juice about 1/3 of the way.Now, fill up the rest of the glass with club soda or sparkling water. Serve chilled over ice and enjoy!
Womb Healing Sorrel
Sorrel is a typical Caribbean tea drink typically served cold. However, many people don’t even realise this drink has so many health benefits for women! Adding in other womb healing herbs, this sorrel is sweetened with pineapple juice and may help to ease period cramps.


Womb Healthy Sorrel Iced Tea
Ingredients
- 2/3 Cup Sorrel Hibiscus (aka Hibiscus Flower) 1/3 for a less strong brew
- 2 Teaspoons Red Raspberry Leaf
- 1 Teaspoon Chamomille
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
- 500 mL Water aka 2 cups
- 500 mL Pineapple Juice
Instructions
- Put your lavender, chamomille cinnamon, red raspberry leaf, and hibiscus in a small sauce pan with 500 ml of water and allow this to reach a boil.Once it has, turn off the heat and allow to simmer for the next 15 minutes.
- While the tea is brewing, you can either juice 500 ml of pineapple or use a pre-made juice (sugar free, non pasteurised is preferred.
- Once the 15 minutes have passed. Either let the tea cool completely or strain it and add ice to allow it to cool faster.The tea can also be served warm.
- Combine the pineapple juice with the strained brewed tea and ice and enjoy!
Dairy free Peanut Punch

Fully dairy free using a homemade coconut condensed milk. This Jamaican peanut punch recipe is a fully ital classic that does wonders to help boost energy levels.
Healthy Homemade Milo Recipe

Lord knows I used to tear Milo up when I was a likkle Pitney! Since becoming more ingredient cautious as an adult, I do not purchase from certain companies anymore and Nestle is one of them. This homemade HEALTHY Milo is loaded with immune boosting ingredients that are actually good for you.

Homemade Jamaican Milo Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/3 Cup Almonds
- 1/3 Cup Oatmeal
- 1/3 Cup Hemp Seeds
- 3 Tablespoons Cacao Powder
- 2-3 Medjool Dates pitted
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
- 1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/8 Nutmeg
- Coconut Condensed milk to taste!
- 3 Cups Water
Instructions
- If you are not using the Nama M1 Plant Based Milk Maker, soak your nuts for at least 4 hours or overnight. Combine all of your ingredients and blend until smooth.
- Strain and serve with condensed milk warm or cold and enjoy!
Pineapple Soda
Pineapple soda, but make it homemade and fully refined sugar free! This has to by far be one of my most favorite DIY soda recipes I’ve created. It has such minimal and holistic ingredients, but tastes even better than the store bought version!


Homemade Pineapple Soda
Equipment
- 1 Juicer or blender
Ingredients
- 1/2 Pineapple
- 2-3 Cups Sparkling water
- 2+ Tablespoons Agave Syrup optional
Instructions
- Wash your pineapple and chop into sizes appropriate for your juicer or blender. Juice and strain.Add agave to the pineapple juice.
- Fill your glass about 1/3 – 1/2 way with pineapple juice and fill the rest of the cup with sparkling water. This combination goes together sooo well and tastes incredible!
Callaloo juice
Callalloo isn’t just to be steamed and served alongside boiled food, it is extremely nutrient dense! Jamaican Callaloo is high in iron and can be consumed in a juice fresh to possibly help fight anemia naturally!
