I’m a smoothie drinker all year round (because blended frozen fruit is just that good!). I especially love a creamy smoothie in the summertime. This strawberry mango smoothie is the perfect cooler during the heat. It also provides lots of antioxidants, making it the perfect healthy frozen treat.

I initially came up with this recipe because I had just spent one year abroad eating the best tropical fruit. Coming back to American bananas just did not seem appealing to me. One day I randomly said, “I wonder how frozen strawberries and mangoes would taste together”. Boy am I so glad I tried it out.

The flavours are the perfect combination of fruity and creamy. Its a must try for this summer, winter, spring, and basically all year round! 

Mangoes have so many health benefits. They may help to build the immune system, may improve digestive health and just like strawberries, they’re packed with antioxidants.

Strawberry mango Smoothie

The recipe is straight to the point and ready within 5 minutes.

What you Need: Strawberry Mango Smoothie

  • Mangoes – Make sure they’re fresh and not frozen. I’ve tried before with frozen and the taste was very different and not sweet at all.
  • Strawberries – Frozen strawberries are the best! This is where the smoothie will receive its delectable color and cold refreshing taste.
  • Plant-based Probiotic Yogurt Drink – (or vegan yogurt) The drinkable yogurt aka kefir is where this smoothie gets its iconic smooth and creamy texture from. I’ve made it without the yogurt before and while it was still delicious, I definitely missed that creamy flavor
  • Cinnamon – I LOVE putting cinnamon in smoothies! This hack has allowed me to put less added sweetener as cinnamon naturally brings out sweetness in fruits.
  • Protein powder or hemp seeds – My favorite protein powder I’ve been using lately is from HBNC naturals and has 20 grams of protein per serving. Of course if you don’t want to use protein powder sub 2 teaspoons of hemp seeds or feel free to exclude.  Here is where you can find some quality hemp seeds.
  • Plant Milk – Honestly any milk is fine for this recipe but I prefer almond. It’s what I’m most used to.
  • Nut butter – Almond, peanut, cashew, you name it. I’ve tried this recipe featuring many different butters and it comes out delicious every time. Feel free to sub for sunflower seed butter. If attempting a nut free smoothie, use oat milk or hemp instead of nut milk.
  • Agave syrup- Feel free to use any sweetener of choice. I usually use agave because it’s most available to me but medjool dates provide a great sugar free alternative.

When I was inspired to create this recipe, I use a Nutribullet Blender but any blender will do. I now use the newer nutribullet blender combo and I love it! Its perfect to make larger sized smoothies, can create nut butters, and also has a personal size cup. If you’re using a small personal size blender its best to add frozen fruit first. Then follow with the fresh mangoes, hemp seeds, nut butter, etc. 

In small personal size blenders, the blade goes on top. The components will have a hard time blending if frozen fruit is right on top of the blender. 

If using a bigger blender such as a Vitamix (my all time favorite blender). The more budget friendly Hamilton Beach, or any other blender with the blades on bottom, put the liquid and fresh fruit first. If you’re looking for a powerful and reliable blender, this blender by the Brandless Store is a great budget alternative to the $300+ Vitamix and received great reviews on amazon.

After the frozen fruit has been added, throw in the fresh mango and other ingredients .

The smoothie is already quick and straight to the point, but if you’re low on time before work in the early rising do some prep. Feel free to portion the ingredients into a resealable bag and put it in the freezer. All you’ll have to do is empty the components, pour the vegan Kefir, nut milk and you’ll be good to go.

This smoothie is pretty versalite. It’lll taste great with the strawberries replaced with blueberries or even the mangoes replaced with bananas. The one thing I love about smoothies is they’re hard to mess up.

Ingredients

Strawberry Mango smoothie

  • 1 Cup Frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 Fresh mango, use whole if mango is small
  • 1/3 Cup Vegan yogurt of kefir
  • 1 Tablespoon Nut butter
  • 2 Teaspoon Hemp seeds, Or one serving protein powder
  • 2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Cup Almond milk, More or less for desired consitency

Strawberry Mango Smoothie instructions

  • 1)

    Place strawberries first in a blender if using a Nutribullet or Ninja Personal Blender. If you’re using a non personal blender or a machine with the blades on the bottom put the liquid and fresh fruit first (for better blending).

  • 2)

    Add in the rest of ingredients, blend to desired consistency

  • 3)

    Pour in an aesthetically pleasing mason jar or a regular ole cup and enjoy!
