How to make chocolate walnut energy balls

First Step: Soak your dates in hot water for about 5-10 minutes or one hour (room temp) if you want your energy balls to be fully free from heat.

Second Step: Secondly, combine all the ingredients into a blender or food processor and pulse until evenly combines. Take breaks to scrape the sides of the machine to make sure all ingredients are incorporated.

Third Step: Roll the mixture into your preferred size balls, store in the fridge, and enjoy!

Notes: A blender is not the best equipment to use for this recipe. Food processor is much preferred as it does a better job at mixing and incorporating the ingredients. However, if you have to use a blender, continue to scrape the sides and be patient. Do not add water as this can change the texture and taste of the energy balls.

The perfect recipe for chocolate lovers, this easy simple snack is all plant based, takes less than 5 minutes to put together, is meal prep friendly, and fully raw vegan!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup 3/4, soft & soaked
  • 1 Cup Walnuts
  • 2.5 Tablespoon Cacao powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • Pinch Nutmeg, optional, not necessary

Method

  • 1)

Soak your dates in hot water for about 5-10 minutes or one hour in room temp water if you want your energy balls to be fully free from heat.

  • 2)

Secondly, combine all the ingredients (the walnuts, soft dates, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cacao powder) into a blender or food processor and pulse until evenly combined. Scrape the sides if needed in between pulsing intervals.

Friendly Note; A blender is not the best equipment to use for this recipe. Food processor is much preferred as it does a better job at mixing and incorporating the ingredients. If you have to use a blender, be patient and scrape the sides. Try not to add water because this can change the texture and taste of the energy balls.

  • 3)

Roll the mixture into your preferred size balls, store in the fridge, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Be sure to soak your dates in hot water or room temperature. It is very important to make sure the dates are soft and gooey before blending/processing or the texture of the balls will be affected.
  • While a blender works, food processor is the preferred method for this recipe. Blenders do not do the best job at combining the ingredients. If a food processor is not available, keep pulsing and scraping the sides until everything is combined. Do not add water to make it blend easier as it will change the texture and taste of the recipe.
