This lemongrass tea recipe is super simple to make and loaded with warming spices and flavours making it a healthy yet delicious drink!
Lemongrass is found all over the world but as a Jamaican woman, I’m most familiar with picking it straight from a yard in the Caribbean.
This plant does wonders to ward off mosquitoes and is amazing for your skin but also has plenty of health benefits when served as a tea!

Health Benefits of Lemongrass
I find lemongrass to be very easily digestible when paired in a tea and its no wonder as research has shown this herb to help digestion and the stomach.
Lemon grass tea has also been proven to boost immunity, and may even lower high blood pressure.

Where to find Lemon grass
If you’re in the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, or the many other places where this plant grows you should be able to easily find it. However, if you’re in the USA, Canada, or Europe it can get a bit trickier.
I’ve found lemongrass in health food stores in the USA such as Whole Foods and Sprouts but I always find them (for cheap too) at my local asian farmer’s market.
What You’ll Need
- Lemongrass- You can use dried but I prefer fresh leaves
- Ginger
- Lime
- Water
How to make easy lemongrass tea
Step One:
Smash and break up your lemongrass so that it’s flat and fragrant. This step is very important as to make the aroma and taste properly steep into the tea.
Squeeze out the juice from your lime and optional to also include the skin in the tea. Grate or chop your ginger and combine everything in a small sauce pot.
Step Two:
Bring the tea just to a boil then turn down the heat and allow to simmer for the next 10-15 minutes. The longer it simmers and seeps, the stronger the flavor and aroma.
Strain once the time is up and serve with optional sweetener!
How to store lemongrass tea recipe
This tea can easily be served iced and tastes incredibly delicious that way! It’s the perfect beverage to serve warm on a cold gloomy day or cold to stay hydrated and cool down.
If you want to save it for another day, simply store in a jar in the fridge for up to 7 days or in the freezer (in ice cube folds) for up to 3 months.
