When I tell you these fries are delicious I mean they are DELICIOUS! Perfectly seasoned, crispy and crunchy, overall 5 stars. As I used the airfryer, I was able to achieve restaurant crispiness with just one tablespoon of oil!

These fries have been apart of my life since early high school struggling vegan days. As I grew older and experimented more in the kitchen, I was able to develop a method to get them incredibly crispy and flat out yummy. The taste is Caribbean meets Indian masala and overall amazing.

How to make Curry Paprika Fries

Step One:

Wash your potatoes and cut them into thin fry slices. Cutting them thin is extremely important to keep them crispy and allow for faster cooking with less oil.

Step Two:

After cutting your fries, wash them multiple times until the water runs clean. I’ve found this step very necessary as washing out the starch allows more room for crunch once the fries are full cooked. Once washed, pat dry the fries as much as possible before seasoning so the oil and water don’t mix.

Step Three:

Combine the dry seasonings, grape-seed oil, and cut potatoes in a bowl and put into the air-fryer at 400 F for 15-20 minutes. Each person’s equipment may cook differently so be sure to check it around the 10 minute mark. Alternatively, fries can be cooked in the oven at 400 F for 20 – 25 minutes.

Tips on making curry paprika fries

  • Be sure to wash your fries and pat dry. Washing the potato releases starch that may prevent the fries from getting crunchy and crispy.
  • Air-fryer is preferred method for this recipe as it allows for the fries to get extra crispy with less amount of oil but an oven works as well. You may need to add a bit more oil and spread each individual fry on a baking sheet in order for the fries to get nice and crispy.
  • I used grape-seed oil because it has a high heating point and is much healthier than vegetable or canola oil.

How to Store curry paprika fries

This recipe is best served hot and fresh out the oven/airfryer but can make for a tasty freezer after school/work snack! Once the fries cool completely, place them into an airtight ziplock bag and store in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

The frozen fries can be reheated via oven or airfryer at 385 F for 15-20 minutes. They make a great quick and easy meal prep side dish or a Sunday game appetizer!

Method

  • 1)

Cut your potatoes into thin fry slices and wash them until the water runs clear and all the starch has washed away. Cutting them thin is extremely important to keep them crispy and allow for faster cooking with less oil. Once washed, pat dry the fries as much as possible before seasoning so the oil and water don’t mix

Put the potatoes into the air-fryer at 400 F for 15-20 minutes. Each person’s equipment may cook differently so be sure to check it around the 10 minute mark. Salt to taste and enjoy hot!

Notes

Washing the starch off the potatoes is key to getting a crispy bite! Don’t skip this step and be sure to dry off the excess water before coating with oil and seasonings.

I like to cut my potatoes into thin fries slices as opposed to large to cook faster and get crispier edges.
