Most people dream of euro summers and July by the beach in Portugal or Italy. Would you believe me if I told you that Europe is just as magical (and cheaper) during Autumn?!

I did an October trip visiting multiple countries on the continent, and it was so much fun, affordable, and the views were breathtaking. Pack a few jackets and some cute boots, let’s explore some great European cities to visit in October!

The Hague, The Netherlands – Europe in October

When people think about The Netherlands, most people’s minds automatically go to Amsterdam.

While the capital is great, The Hague is beautiful, more laid back, and has a much smaller chance of being run over by a bike!

The Hague is honestly is great place to stay in The Netherlands if you’re not a big fan of crowds, and only want to go to Amsterdam for about a day. When I was there, I stayed with my friend and we took the train to Amsterdam for a few euros, and it was lovely.

There’s a beautiful beach to go sight seeing at, delicious restaurants, and so many museums to visit in The Hague. This city is perfect for a chill yet packed itinerary visit to Europe in October!

After my trip to The Hague, I flew from Amsterdam to Curacao The Caribbean! Visiting Curacao in October was perfect the weather was warm and tickets were so affordable.

London, Britain

London is easily one of my favorite cities on the continent. It’s extremely diverse, has lots of Jamaicans (representation ayeee) and has incredible ethnic food.

Not to mention, there’s always something going on and a great public transportation system to take you there! Countless museums and art exhibits, parks to stroll through, endless countries’ cuisine to try, and Oktoberfest!

There are lots of theatrical productions to view in October too so it’s a great option for people who are into the arts.

October is Black history month in the UK! Visit out Brixton to learn more about the West Indian wind rush generation nd the positive impact Caribbean people have had on the country.

Copenhagen, Denmark – Europe in October

I only spent a few days in Copenhagen, but trust and believe a time was HAD! There are plenty of hostels in this city, but the one that I stayed in had so many activities for young people.

There are plenty of things to do in October in Copenhagen. Tivoli Gardens is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, and it just so happens to be located right in the city!

There is also culture night where during mid October, plant of cultural spots are open to tourists to learn, wander, and view. Copenhagen is extremely walkable, so one day I spent walking everywhere.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Europe in October

Amsterdam has some of the BEST and most diverse food in Europe. Not to mention they are so veggie friendly, I had some of the best vegan pizza of my life here!

So many parks, cafes, restaurants, and festivals to stroll through, and one of the biggest cities in Europe! As mentioned before, Amsterdam has a pretty different vibe from The Hague. It’s bigger, more fast paced, and generally has more going on.

You can go on boat cruises and view all the night lights, go bike rising through the country side, or visit the Vondelpark which is Amsterdam’s largest park!

My favorite vegan cafe, Saint Jean has some of the best dairy/egg free pastries I’ve had in my life, definitely a must visit. However, their treats run out quickly so be sure to visit before lunch time!

Edinburg, Scotland

Edinburg is an upbeat and personality filled city with lots to do in October and autumn! If you’re going to be there on the 31st, check out the Samhuinn fire festival and learn all about Celtic mythology.

Home of the wizard himself, there are plenty of walking tours that show you the home of Harry Potter!

Calton Hill offers one of the most beautiful views in the city, and is a must hike if you loves photos and panoramic views. If you’re in Edinburg for a few days, there are plenty of day trip tours you can do to make the most out of your trip.

Cologne, Germany – Europe in October

Cologne or Koln Germany in October is beautiful! Gorgeous autumn leaves everywhere, cooler weather, and everyone is dressed in cozy fits.

This city is way more laid back compared to the bustling capital Berlin, but there’s still quite a bit to see and do. I took an affordable bus to Cologne from The Hague and it was such a chill experience!

Cologne has lots to keep you busy for a couple of days. You for sure have to check out the famous Cologne Cathedral, which is huge and super beautiful.

I’d also recommend walking around the Old Town and along the Rhine, especially in October when all the autumn colors make the city feel look gorgeous. One of my favorite things to do was chilling at the park and making my own solo picnic! Relaxing and staring at all the animals, people watching, and watching the leaves fall!

Lisbon, Portugal

I have visited Portugal many times in the summer and let me tell you, the heat is unforgiving! If you’re not a fan of heat waves, but love Portuguese culture and architecture, you have got to visit Lisbon in October!

Lisbon is one of my favorite European cities ever. It has this charm that you just can’t find anywhere else, the food is delicious, and the people are so warm and kind.

The weather in October is still surprisingly quite warm, so you won’t need such a heavy jacket like the rest of the cities on this list.

Some of my favorite things to do in Lisbon are watch the sunset at Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, sunset cruises, and cultural walking tours. Oh, and eating as many pastel de natas as I possibly can!
