Benefits of Rose infused Oil
This recipe is made with 3 oils and dried rose petals. It has sooo many health benefits for maintaining healthy skin. Rose infused oil may help to relieve acne on the face, reduce anxiety, and act as an aphrodisiac. Overall, its a great serum to have in your bathroom (and bedroom).
Apart from soft and floral rosy scented skin, I love to use this as a yoni oil. Down there needs mosituriziation just as much as our legs and arms. All I do is use about 2-4 drops and rub on the outside of my yoni (never inside) and it leaves such an amazing scent. Oh, I only use this oil after a shower. It leaves me feeling like a queen and ready to take on my day (or night).
What you’ll need
Sweet Almond Oil
This is a neutrally scented oil that is great for skin, surprisingly it doesn’t smell sweet! Grab your own bottle using this link.
Grape-seed Oil
Not just amazing for cooking! This naturally alkaline oil is very light and acts as a great moisturiser. If you don’t already have some, get a bottle here.
Avocado Oil
Made from avocados (obviously) this oil is great for cooking food, skin health, and hair growth. Quality avocado oil can be found on this link.
Dried Rose Petals
I got mine from and Indian grocery store nearby my house but you can also purchase some through this link.
Optional Ingredients
Lavender Essential Oil
Rose Essential Oil
Vitamin E Oil
How to make DIY Rose Oil
You’ll need a good quality mason jar and straining cheese cloth for this process. Use the links provided to purchase if you don’t already have this equipment.
Step One: Measure your oils and pour them into an airtight mason jar along with the dried rose petals. Close the lid.
Step Two: Now, heat water until it is boiling. Then place the closed mason jar into a deep pot and pour the water over the jar and allow it to sit for at least 20-30 minutes.
Step Three: Take the closed jar out of the hot water and place in a cool dark area and allow to sit for the next 24 hours. Check on the mixture the next day. If the scent is not strong enough for you, repeat the process again with fresh dried rose petals and hot water. The more this process/step is repeated, the stronger the scent becomes.
Double Boiler Method- Stronger infusion
The hot water method is quick and easy for those who don’t have much time, however the scent will not be as strong. For a stronger aroma and infusion, use the double boiler method.
Step One: First, boil a pot of water until boiling and add a heat safe bowl on top. Then combine the oils along with the rose petals into the bowl. **Be sure to NOT get any water into the oil mixture**
Step Two: Move the mixture on low heat, constantly stirring for about 1-2 hours. Once fragrant, strain the flowers from the oil, add fresh dried rose petals and pour into your desired container.
This double boiler method is a great way to get a strong infusion without severe nutrient loss compared to placing the oil and petals on direct heat in a sauce pan.
Tips for making DIY Rose Infused Skin Oil
One of the best methods for herbal infused oils are the slow method! All you do is combine the petals and oil into an airtight mason jar and place in a cool, dry area for 4-6 weeks. Of course this process takes a good while but the end result is lovely.
The more heat that is added, the more nutrients are lost. I would not recommend to heat the oil mixture over direct flame with the rose petals as some essential nutrients may be lost.
Adding extras such as Vitamin E or essential oils are not necessary but add a lovely scent to the DIY Rose infused body oil.
