We would all love to smell like a field of lavender and freshly picked roses down there, however that is not exactly how bodily autonomy works. The vagina has a special scent of its own that represents a healthy and functional yoni. So although these tips may not make you smell exactly like fresh pineapples, you’ll get damn near close to it. Here are some natural and holistic tips to balance the yoni’s pH and improve vaginal odor.

Causes of vaginal odor- How to improve vaginal odor
There are many outside factors that may lead to an unnatural odor coming from downstairs. Improper hygiene routines, UTI’s, and offset hormones, are just a few things that can cause a less than sexy smell down there.
A major factor leading into vaginal odor are bad eating habits. Highly processed foods, fast food, soda/energy drinks, red meat, and dairy are all foods that make the yoni very un-happy. Remember, we are what we eat and if you don’t want to taste like greasy gas station french fries, don’t eat them often.
Drink natural fruit juices/smoothies
I’m sure we’ve all had someone tell us to drink pineapple juice before having a fun night. Its actually true though! One of my favorite yoni sweetening juices that may also help to heighten the feminine libido naturally is: 3 cups of seeded grapes, 2 pomegranates, and 4 apples. This makes up to 50 ounces of juice, tastes absolutely heavenly, and will have you tasting just as sweet as it does. If you truly want to improve vaginal odor, start consuming more fruits. Cotton/breathable underwear- How to improve vaginal odor
That thong on the clearance rack might look real appealing but it will not let your yoni breathe, sis! Research has shown that synthetic unnatural materials such as polyester and lace are extremely unbreathable. Switching to underwear made from a more natural material such as cotton is the best way to go. I personally sleep naked to give my yoni the extra time to breathe as well. Use the link down below to get some breathable and natural cotton underwear.
Yoni Steaming
Yoni steaming is an ancient indigenous practice that’s not quite as popular in western culture or medicine. It is the act of boiling herbs like tea and placing the cooled mixture under your yoni for steaming. Yoni steaming can help to alleviate period pain, cysts in the womb, and also restore the yoni’s pH level. Having a balanced pH level may help to rid down there of off-scents. My yoni steaming set-up is very simple with a collapsible seat on my toilet.
Wash the outside of your yoni (not inside)
When I was not properly educated, I used to wash the inside of my private area with soap because I didn’t know any better. It wasn’t until I got older I realised using scented soap on the inside of my yoni was causing pain and an unbalanced pH. I now only use unscented soap on the outside of my yoni and never on the inside.
Watch what your partner eats- How to improve vaginal odor
Is your sexual partner always drinking soda, eating pork, and does not frequently exercise? If so, they may be transferring toxins to your body even if you eat a clean plant based diet. Set standards for your partner in order to enter your yoni. Setting boundaries on your yoni may help to prevent potential UTI’s, STDs, and constant BV (bacterial vaginosis).
Take a shower before/after intercourse
This also goes for your partner. If your man just came back from the gym and wants to ‘get some’ before cleaning up, this may upset your pH balance causing an unpleasant vaginal odor down there! Always be sure both parties are clean and take showers before and after intercourse.
Wear loose clothing/ No tight clothes
Similar reasoning for wearing breathable underwear. When you are out all day in the hot sun with hair and skin rubbing on your yoni, its more prone to sweat. This allows harmful bacteria to come out and play causing bad odours. I’ve been staying away from skinny jeans, spandex, and tight pants in general. Taking a looser approach with skirts, dressers, loose cotton pants, and even sleeping naked have all helped to give my yoni the space and time to breathe.
Use Unscented soap- How to improve vaginal odor
Did you know that scented soaps can throw off the vagina’s pH level? Its best to use non-scented soap on the outside of your private parts and never on the inside. The vagina is self cleansing so there is no need to put anything other than water on the direct inside of it. I personally only use unscented African Black soap and have for years.
Consume more plant based foods
Earlier we discussed how we are what we eat. This applies for women and men as well! Taking out dairy, red meat, heavy oil, and processed foods will do wonders for overall feminine health! Also, if you want to be sweeter and have a more balanced pH, eat more alkaline fruits such as berries and coconut. Pineapple, grapes, pomegranates, and cranberries may do wonder to sweeten a woman’s yoni, just ask your partner. Eating the right food can surely help to improve vaginal odor.
Stay out of wet clothing
Staying in gym clothes for too long, a wet bathing suit, clothes from the rain can all upset your yoni. Whenever clothes get wet or sweaty its best to change ASAP. I even like to change my underwear once a day if it is too hot outside and I’ve been sweating a lot.
