Do I still need the marriage certificate for my mother if I use my father’s birth certificate to file for the citizenship?

Hi Andre!
If your father has your last name then no you won’t. I needed the marriage certificate because my mom’s maiden name (of course) is different than her current and my last name.

Hey, I really appreciate all of this information you provided! Your youtube video has pushed me to handle everything over in JM for my dual citizenship in the coming months. Hopefully I can work remotely for a week to get this handled & pay extra to expedite the process.

Hi Gus!
I’m happy that this blog article and the YouTube video have helped you on your journey to obtaining Jamaican citizenship by descent! I personally think staying in Jamaica was the best decision for me because it saved me so much money and only took about 3 weeks for everything! If you happy extra to expedite citizenship it will be ready in about 15 business days but you can have the papers shipped to a foreign address. Getting the passport done in Jamaica only took me one day as well!
