A simple yet refreshing fresh fruit juice that takes under 10 minutes to make. This watermelon juice recipe leaves me feeling energised and ready to take on the day.

As a person that loves to break my fast (or eat breakfast) with fruit that is high in water content, watermelon is the perfect suitor. It is made up of nearly 90% water and digested in just about 20 minutes. A few other fruits I love to eat when I wake up are cantaloupes, honeydew melons, strawberries, cucumbers, blueberries, or peaches. These foods are easily digestible and don’t put so much strain on my stomach compared to eating bread or fried food early in the morning.

How to make Watermelon juice

Watermelon juice is quite simple to make. You simply chop up all the ingredients and either throw them in your blender or run through a juicer. Of course a juicy ripe pineapple is sure to make this recipe taste very sweet, but its also important to choose a good watermelon. When I look for melons, I usually look for a orange-yellow “field” spot. A field spot is basically where the melon was resting on the ground during its growth period. The darker and more orange the spot it is, the sweeter the flesh will be. You know what they say, the darker the berry the sweeter the fruit.

Juicer versus Blender

When I’m making fresh fruit (or vegetable) juice, I typically like to rely on my trusty Hamilton Beach Juicer.

Nutribullet BlenderPersonally the blender that I have in my house, it gets the job done and is cost effective! The combo comes with a 64 ounce machine as well as a personal size cup. Its a steal in my opinion!

Vitamix BlenderProbably the most beloved blender on the market. It costs a pretty penny but it is truly the best of its kind. There’s a reason why every cafe/bar has a vitamix. Get your hands on a Vitamin with this link .

Ninja Blender- Up and rising on the market, Ninja has been coming up with some seriously good blenders! They recently introduced their new Ninja Creami ice cream maker. It can make ice cream, fresh fruit sorbet, milkshakes, and just about anything creamy! The price is a bit high up there but it is a very cool concept.

Health Benefits of Watermelon

As said before, watermelon is digested very quickly. I find myself a lot less bloated when I eat or drink watermelon and love to include it into my diet whenever its in season.

Consuming watermelon is a great way to stay hydrated. During the summer months, the temperature has the potential to reach triple digits! When I take a bite out of a watermelon or drink a freshly pressed juice, I feel extremely hydrated.

Watermelons may also aid in skin health and reduce inflammation. As said before, I love to get watermelon in my diet when I’m suffering from uncomfortable bloating.

Alkaline Watermelon Juice Recipe

Watermelon is a fruit that is naturally alkaline in nature.

What is alkaline?

Alkalinity is when a fruit or vegetable has a pH level of 7 of higher. Those following an alkaline diet or the guide of Dr. Sebi may be interested in an alkaline watermelon juice. To quite a surprise, many of the fruit and vegetables we love dearly are extremely acidic. For example, the pineapples in this recipe are by no means alkaline but the key limes would be on Dr. Sebi’s diet.

Some alkaline fruits and vegetables include: bell peppers, avocados, plums, papayas, key limes, soursop (tropical fruit), tamarind, chickpea, and pears to start.

Alkaline Watermelon Jucie Recipe

I myself am not alkaline and do not necessarily plan on converting anytime soon. However, I love to incorporate different vegan alkaline recipes every now and then. To make this watermelon juice alkaline and even more cleansing for the body, only 2 ingredients are needed.

Watermelon and key lime

That’s it! If a good watermelon with an orange field spot is chosen, the key limes will draw out the natural sweetness in the fruit. If key limes aren’t available, take the old fashioned route and just juice up a sweet seeded watermelon and enjoy.

This watermelon juice recipe is a great way to cool down and stay hydrated on a hot day. It only takes less than 10 minutes to make this refreshing and healthy sweet summer drink!

Ingredients

  • 1 medium size Watermelon
  • 1 medium size Pineapple
  • 2 Apples
  • 1 handful Mint
  • 2 small Key Lime, can use 1/2 regular lime or 1/2 lemon
  • 1 thumb Ginger, optional

Method

  • 1)

Blender- Carefully place the watermelon, in the blender first and pulse for a few seconds. Then add the pineapple, apple, ginger, key limes, and mint into the juicer. Place the mint leaves first followed by other solid fruit so the herbal flavor can be properly incorporated.

Juicer- Place the chopped watermelon, pineapple, apple, ginger, key limes, mint and lemon juice and run for about 30-60 seconds or until the ingredients have been liquified. .

  • 2)

Juicer- If desired, run the juice through a fine mesh strainer. If pulp is fine, serve as it.

Blender- Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or nut milk bag. Strain until the desired consistency is acquired.

  • 3)

Pour over ice and enjoy on a hot day!

Notes

Feel free to use a juicer or blender! Due to the high water content in the melon, the juice can be blended easily without adding extra liquid. If using a blender it may be best to pulse the watermelon quickly before adding the rest of the ingredients.

If using key limes, carefully peel the skin and remove the seeds. If using regular lime or lemons, only use half.
