Cuisine Japanese
- 2-3 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
- 1 Teaspoon Ceremonial Grade Matcha
- 1.5 Tablespoons Warm Water never boiling!
Soak your chasen (whisk) in hot water for at least 2 minutes. This will help to soften the bristles so that they don't break easily.
Measure out one teaspoon of a high quality matcha and put it into your chawan (matcha bowl). Once your whisk has soaked for long enough, pour in 1/2 of the warm water you have (not boiling) into the bowl.
Start to stir in a circle rotation to get all the clumps out. A nice thick paste should have formed by now. Now, pour in the rest of the water and start to whisk in an M motion for about 45 seconds. Pour in another 1/2 tablespoon if your matcha shot is too thick for your liking. The matcha shot will be ready once there is a small micro foam at the top layer Scoop the ice cream into your favorite glass. Slowly pour the matcha shot into the ice cream and enjoy immediately!
